Installing the Mac OS X operating system on the desktop can arise intractable problems. Hackintosh is one of the solutions around and is been used by newbies but, the process of using “Hackintosh” itself need some training and frequently fail.
To install OS X Mavericks operating system on a PC, you can refer my previous post. In this post, I will demonstrate, how you can install OS X Yosemite on PC desktop. The objective of this article includes showing step by step process of installing Mac OS X on a regular computer using minimum resources. UniBeast and MultiBeast allow us to install OS X Yosemite on a Windows-based machine. We do not need an optical drive to create “Hackintosh” instead USB-drive is enough.
- The image of the OS X Yosemite can be downloaded from the store App Store.
- Applications MultiBeast and UniBeast.
- USB-drive at least 8 GB.
- Intel based PC.
How to install OS X Yosemite on a Windows-PC:
Step 1: Download and load the image of OS X Yosemite from the Mac App Store, for more step by step guide click here.
Step 2: Download the latest UniBeast and MultiBeast here.
Step 3: Before starting the process create bootable USB drive using UniBeast. Launch Disk Utility on the Mac and click the USB flash drive in the sidebar.
Step 4: Change to the disk partition, and then select Current Section: 1. Click on the Options button, switch the item to master boot record, and then click OK.
Step 5: Change the name to USB and select the format of Mac OS X Extended.Confirm the changes with disk partitions.
Step 6: After preparing the USB-drive, open the latest version UniBeast. Pass the first screen by clicking on the Continue button and click Agree.
Step 7: In Destination Select USB-stick and click Continue.
Step 8: On the Installation Type, make sure to check the option Mac App Store Yosemite – 10.10.
Step 9: Enter the password and click Install. Depending on the speed of your system and the speed of USB-drive, it could take up to 20 minutes.
Step 10: Now plug the USB flash drive with OS X Yosemite in your intel PC and run the Hackintosh. To do this, first go into the BIOS and specify the external drive as a boot disk and restart the computer.
Step 11: On the start screen, select USB and press Enter to continue. Format the disk before you start the installation. To do this, go to the Utilities -> Disk Utility.
- Select your hard disk on the left.
- Right click the Advanced tab disk partition, and then click Current Section: 1.
- Click on the Options button.
- Switch to GUID partition scheme and click OK.
- Name your disk and select the format Mac OS X Extended.
- Confirm the changes with disk partitions.
Step 12: Now return back to the installer and specify the disk you just formatted to install OS X Yosemite and install the operating system.
Once the installation is done, make bootable HDD using MultiBeast. This utility also allows you to install the necessary drivers for your sound card, Wi-Fi, graphics, network, etc.
Step 13: Restart your computer with the USB-stick. Select Macintosh HD on the main screen
Step 14: Start MultiBeast, install necessary drivers for your PC and click Build and complete the installation.
Now you can use OS X Yosemite on your PC!
